When there is a low pressure area, winds from the sorrounding areas converge at the low pressure area and they are forced to rise.As they rise the moisture in the air condenses and clouds are formed. When the rain drops become bigger, the cloud can no longer hold them and pours as rain.

Low pressure systems are associated with rising air. They have two parts. One being a warm front and a warm section and the second being a cold front or cold section. When the warm sector moves over the area then area tends to get very warm and pulls moisture up from the Gulf of Mexico. When the second part, the cold front, moves in it has a dryline to it which pushes the moist air up, this is called a lifting mechanism. To get rain you need three basic principles. You have to have temperatures warm enough to form rain at the ground and in the upper atmosphere, you need moisture and a lifting mechanism. When a low pressure system moves through you get all three of these meeting in one spot and it causes rain and thunderstorms. In the winter this will cause blizzards and freezing rain and snow.

A low pressure area, by definition, is surrounded by air at a higher pressure. Because of the pressure difference air moves into the "low" and finds nowhere to go but up. As it rises, it cools, and as it cools it can no longer hold its moisture content. So there is precipitation.

Low pressure brings air streaming to the place.
The air transport the skies with the rain.
To places with high pressure there are no such transport.
In addition to the sky transportation to your place, there must be a temperature fall in the skies.
