I was walking home today during a thundersstorm, praying that I wasn't going to get hit by lightning, and I was wondering, for future reference, how likely is it to be struck by lightning when you are walking on a sidewalk with two and three story buildings surrounding you?

Because it felt pretty likely as I was walking, but lightning strikes what is tallest, right?

I live in Phoenix, Arizona, and it's not uncommon to have humidity levels in the single digits during the early summer. However, is it possible to have the humidity level drop to zero? Would this be harmful/deadly to humans and/or animals?

ok, to me each year it seems liek the weaher channel just gets worse and worse. I liked it when it was 24/7 weather, not stupid programming stuff and put traffic into cuz first of the traffic portion just sucks imo. also i dont liek the new 'black bar' on the bottom .. what happned to the old date and time(h:m:s format) with just the forcasta nd stuff for the closest rgion to you...... now it switched between the time(h:m format) and the temp and has traffic flow, weather id (wtf is that), and other stuff. I used to go to TWC int he morning to check the time, date, and weather real quick .. now its just so differnt i really dont liek it at all. Does anyone else not liek the weather channel format now?

So, I live in Cali. Usually, during the Summer, the sun is out and about.. and everyone stays half naked because it's so dang hot. However, lately, it's only been about 60 degrees. I find it incredibly odd that no one ELSE finds this incredibly odd. Are you kidding me?! I've lived here for 10 years... and I want to know what happened to my 110 degree days!!!! :( CAN ANYONE GIVE AN EXPLANATION?!?!?!?!??!?!? PLEASE?!

There are a few earthquake scientists at my church who have been saying for awhile now that the "big one" is coming to L.A. at any moment. Obviously this hasn't happened yet. Does anyone have any reasons, scientific, intuition-wise, etc. that it may or may not happen?

I thought it was safe since it's not connected to anything but now I'm not sure. So, I was just wondering if I should have turned it off? The storm has pretty much ended.

This evening I was watching the clouds, fascinated to see at least three layers all moving in different directions. Then, for about two minutes, a rainbow appeared. It was circular, forming about 25% of a circle. It seemed to be in one of the higher layers of cloud. But there was no rain. It was a bright evening.
How did this happen?
