Given a radius of curvature, geostrophic wind speed, and gradient wind speed (which I already calculated)...does anyone know how I could go about finding the maximum value the pressure gradient force could be for balanced flow to exist?

I assume I'm going to have to take the derivative of something and set it equal to zero. But I'm not sure which equation to differentiate and with respect to which variable.

Any help or guidance would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

Ok, so there are four pressure cells on Earth right? The Equatorial low pressure Trough, polar high pressure cells, subtropical high pressure cells, and the subsolar low pressure cells. What are the characteristics of all these?

I'm suppose to know the patterns of general atmospheric circulation around high and low pressure systems. Can anyone help me out a bit? All I know is that there is low pressure up toward the surface because there is more heat, and there is higher pressure down by the poles because it is colder. I think that's right anyway.

I read the forecast by the guys at Colorado State (http://typhoon.atmos.colostate.edu/Forecasts/2006/dec2006/) but it's hard to understand the number of hurricanes expected to hit the US, since they express it in terms of a %. Any ideas of the number of hurricanes expected to hit the US in 2007?

I live in Maryland and the weather here is crazy. Two days ago it was about 60 degrees, and today it is 40 degrees and windy. In January, the highs were around 70 degrees! Where is a place in the U.S. that actually goes by the seasons and has PLEASANT weather, without extreme summers or winters?

Volcanoes, Earthquakes & any kind of flood, if you're caught up in natural disasters like these you're in dire straits!

But what of the Tropical Cyclonic storm?

I believe there's a way we CAN BEAT NATURE!

How?

With architecture - with what I've euphemistically called TELESCOPIC BUILDINGS - watch this clip:- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E06cNv55jTs - have you finished laughing yet?
The main building in this clip - called http://stingray.sfdaydreams.com/ (scroll down along with other models in the classic kids hit TV show are able to move themselves up and down beneath the ground.

Surely this is the answer to hurricanes and typhoons isn't it?
But what of the cost I hear you say?

Isn't that the real challenge? To 'scale' the whole thing up & create a design we can mass produce? After all, we've been using lifts in buildings for a very long time now - can't we take it a step further & somehow actually make buildings INTO LIFTS to save precious lives?
