I was watching a interesting program on the Space Race, and it mentioned two occasions that i would love to learn more about

About the same time as the U.S. launched Apollo 8, Russia was preparing to launch their own ship to circle the moon. However we can thank their stupidness for not doing so and probably landing on the moon first.

Russian rockets have to be fueled soon before launch and security around them are said not to be as high as we do.

I dont remember the date, but there was escaping gas out of the fuel area and two technicians decided to have a smoke.... right next to the fuel pumps.... KAAAABOOOOM

Apollo 11

In a shot of the moon and the earth behind it, as Niel and company are walking around, a probe can be seen flying over head.. this was said to be a Russian probe looking for the place to land their own ship.

Anyone ever heard of these? know any others?

I live on the coast of Massachusetts not far from the New Hampshire border. Today was a very clear day with blue skies and no clouds. I saw the strangest thing around 3:00Pm. The sky had all these vapor trails and I started watching the sky. In 15 minutes 24 planes leaving vapor trails flew by. The trails lasted a long time. More planes flew by and, although not accurate, I think there were about 40 or more int the hour that I watched. The sky in the Southern section became hazy and streaked with haze and vapor trails. I've never seen such a thing before. The planes seemed to come from the northeast and fly towards the southwest. I only noticed 2 planes heading from south to north. All of the planes left trails Eventually some of the trails looked like clouds but they weren't clouds.
Does anyone know what was going on?

1) Where can we find info about the past and present locations of these 12 known astrological bodies?
Mercury
Venus
Moon
Earth or Sun rel. to Earth
Ceres
Mars
Jupiter
Saturn
Uranus
Neptune
Pluto and Charon
Eris

2) Could Eris be related to Pisces and Ceres to Cancer?

3) Is there a possibility that astrologers would have mistaken Jupiter and Mars as the tutor planets for Sagittarius and Aries? I don't know about you, yet I firmly believe that Mars' ethymology (it's named after a war god) is closer than Jupiter's (named after the Roman god of justice, hence of lobbying) to the sagitarian prototype. In fact Sagisttariuses are no lobbyers and NOT AT ALL related to justice (i.e. they often think of themselves as unequal to most people, and prefer journalism to rude bitching unlike the Aries).
From there, either the name doesn't represents the real god, or the gods are mixed up.

You take two small objects say- five killogram lead weights, and you hold them one millimeter apart in zero gravity, then let them go. Then you wait days. Weeks. Years. Do the two objects EVER touch? I realize it would be impossible even with robotics to make a perfect release, so lets call it a really good one- synchronized down to a trillionth of a second. I'm wondering what concrete evidence we've found showing gravitational (non-magnetic) attraction in ALL things. Math can prove anything provided you know the rules. The problem is the rules envolving gravity are all theory. We still don't know for sure what gravity is and what creates it.

I get up very early in the morning. I have to leave my apartment at around 6:20 for work and I have a dog I have to walk at around 6:00 am. It used to be pitch black until recently with the light being out longer. Once daylight savings starts is it going to be dark in the early morning again?

We have always assumed that a vacuum has zero matter in it, but does it? If there is less dense space than the vacuum in our solar system and beyond, then that might explain how objects can speed up on their own in the outer galaxy (you know, conservation of momentum). Comments?

I understand that the sky is blue because the shorter-wavelength blue light is scattered through the atmosphere and hits our eyes from all directions. But why doesn't the narrower-wavelength purple light do the same thing?

One of the leading theories is basically that it IS possible for something to come out of nothing. In the world of subatomic particles, it's possible for a matter/antimatter pair (say, a proton and an antiproton) to form spontaneously out of nothing. If this happened on a very large scale you could get a whole universe -- (in theory). Some use this argue for a creator, or against a creator. For those who use this evidence that we don't need a creator: this theory accounts for "something" to be created from nothing, but this does nothing to explain the enviornment that these subatomic particles had to come out of nothing right? Where did the enviorment come from that allowed this to happen?
