Say the government discovered an asteroid heading for earth and will hit us in about 10 years ( and we don't have a way to stop it). Would they just keep their mouths shut since alerting the nation ( world ) would just cause total chaos and a breakdown in society?

I was discussing Astrophysics with my uncle, and we got to the subject of black holes. I, myself, LOVE black holes. My goal in life is to be like Steven Hawking.

Anywho, I was wondering what would happen, theoretically, if you were to pass beyond the event horizon of a black hole.

Would you be torn to shreds, crushed into a peanut, warped through time and/or space?

For instance, Earth, with poles oriented north to south, it turnes clockwise on it's axis. Who's to say what is up or down? couldnt the poles reverse without much climatic effect? Then looking at it from that perspective it would be rotating counter-clockwise. I suppose my real question is, omitting the effects of gravity, is there an up or down in the universe?

There's a bunch of websites stating that it is impossible to land on the moon. Armstrong's picture..There's a shadow when there's no sun, the flag is being blown when there's no wind when there's no gravity or in space. How come nobody else has ever gone on the moon?Is it all just a myth?
