A of course.
As to B: If the sun passed between the moon and the earth we would all be dead and not answering these questions.
As to C: This is called a lunar eclipse.

An eclipse means that the object is being covered or blacked out.

If it is an eclipse of the sun, then it is the sun being covered.

There is only one object in space that can cover the sun from our aspect, and that is the moon.

So, it is quite easy to work it out from first principles. But that is something that seems to elude people these days, judging by some of the questions and answers on this forum.

For instance, it is amazing how many people think that the phases of the moon are caused by Earth's shadow. Staggering....!
