If there are a million billion (ish)stars in our galaxy and there is a million billion (ish) galaxies in the known universe the possibility that our planet is the only one that can support life has got to be pretty remote.

Is geography a worth while major? Can I get a job with just a BS? I am planning an emphasis in GIS and Remote Sensing. Both will result in a BS and certificates in GIS and Remote Sensing. Would it matter what sex and my age when I go looking for work in this area? Also, I have to choose between learning Java, MatLab, or C++.....which one would be most beneficial?

Sample GMAT question wants me to calculate:
(x+2) - (x+1) - (x-1) - (x-2) where x = -100.

In my reckoning this would be:
(-98) - (-99) - (-101) - (-102) = 204

However the test software tells me it is:
-98 - 99 - (-101) - (-102) = 6

I have copied out the original formula and triple checked it; but I do not understand why it treats -99 differently to -101.

Thanks in advance.

The FEMA B-pad report explained the squibs in the collapse of the twin towers by using the physics of a pancake collapse. Later the NIST report claimed that FEMA had been wrong, and in fact it was a pile driver collapse that brought down the twin towers. This changes the physics of the collapse. Then later in there report, NIST addressed the squibs by simple referring you to the FEMA report. This seems to be inconsistent of rational logic
I am not positive about the details thus I am seeking those who better understand.
