Neil Armstron & Buzz Aldren Both landed on the moon at the same time in the Luna Lander "Eagle" 16JUL1969.

Buzz was the pilot and the second person to walk on the moon after Neil's one small step (the video of Neil going down the ladder was renacted and filmed by Buzz)

edit:
Since Buzz was the pilot He would be the first to LAND on the moon....Neil is the first to WALK on the moon.

Neil Armstrong (followed a few minutes later by Buzz Aldrin) was the first human to set foot on the moon in 1969.
There were a total of 12 astronauts that stepped on the moon, over 6 missions between 1969 and 1972.
There have been no manned moon missions since 1972.

In 1990 Japan visited the moon with the Hiten orbiting spacecraft. It released the Hagormo probe into lunar orbit, but the transmitter failed. But Hiten remained in orbit until 1993.
And the US launched Clementine in 1994 - it was also an orbiter only.

Neil Armstrong landed on the moon in 1969 or 1970, I can't remember which year. It was part of the Apollo missions conducted by NASA.

I'm pretty sure that no American has landed on the moon since at least 1980, but I could be wrong about that.

i think of that technically Buzz Aldrin grew to become into the 1st individual to land on the moon. (July 20, 1969). on account that he grew to become into the pilot on top of issues of the lunar landing module, he ought to get credit for the landing. as quickly as the module had already landed, Armstrong grew to become into the 1st one to get out and step upon the lunar floor. Armstrong had the 1st moon stroll, yet Aldrin had the 1st landing. style of like "utilising with omit Daisy". who's the real hero... omit Daisy or the motive force?
