I have a 20kg Weight fixed to the end of a wire. If I was to lift the weight 1 Meter thus having 1 Meter of slack in the wire and let go of the weight. What will the force be on the wire when the weight stops. I'm looking for a formulas etc so I can size up either a new rope or alter the design of the weight on the end of the rope so it's not as heavy. I've tried several equations and have now got totaly confused as to which way to go.

With the simple knowledge that Down's Syndrome is caused by a single chromosonal change, how is it even possible for complete chromosonal changes to bring about species to species changes? how can evolution explain both the addition of genetic material and the bringing about exact changes in both male and female (for mating)?
accepting, for the moment, that evolution could have produced a viable couple, how would they survive without similar parents to teach them to survive and to protect them, as most, not all, creatures alive now destroy radically different offspring?
I don't claim to be an expert so don't slam me for a question. that's what we are here for, right?

alright, i understand that by drawing 2 right angle triangles in the first and second quadrants, with the sides labelled (a), (b), and (root of all a^2 + b^2) i can prove that
sin (pi / 2 + theta) = cos theta...........but now
using the same method, i need to prove that
csc (180 degrees + theta) = - csc theta

i dont understand how this is proven because everytime i draw my diagram, it doesnt work...

or how do i prove that
sin (pi - theta) = sin theta????

thanks in advance... i missed 2 days of classes and im so confused!

If a <=-1, then, we can show a_n --> -oo
If a >= 0, this is a sequence of Riemann sums of f(x) = x^a over [0,1] and a_n --> Integral [0 to 1] x^a dx = = (x^(a +1))/(a +1) [ o to 1] = 1/(a +1)

My question is, what happens when a is in (-1, 0)? Then, this is not a sequence of Riemann sums over [0,1] because x^a is not defined at x = 0 when a < 0. It sems the limit is still 1/(a +1), but is this true?
