Sure, everyone before us has died and thousands die every day- but does this mean there's actual proof that you or me are going to die?

Is there definitive proof that an individual will one day die or just overwhelming odds?

Let A be a subset of R^n with Lebesgue measure m(A) < oo. Let x + A be the translation of A by the vector x of R^n and define f:R--> [0, oo) by f(x) = m( A intersect (x + A)). Show that f is continuous.

My idea was to prove this first to nice sets like cells and then approximate A by a sequence of such nice sets. I tried to obtain a sequence of continuous functions converging uniformly to f, which would establish its continuity. But I got mixed up.

Is this aproach good? Can anyone help, maybe suggesting a different approach.

Thank you

A mine car, whose mass is 440 kg, rolls at a speed of .5 m/s on a horizontal track. A 150 kg chunk of coal has a speed of .8 m/s when it leaves the chute (sloping downward at 25 degreees above the horizontal). Determine the velocity of the car/coal system after the coal has come to rest in the car.

Quick question. I am getting very confused with the types of different marijuana sold in Amsterdam . On the menus in states: Either Cannbis Sativa, Cannabis Indica or of course the hash products. I want the type of Marijuana we can buy in the states that makes you very "stoned" I keep smoking stuff over here in the pre-rolled joints that tastes like tobacco, do the joints have tobacco in them? If anyone could please help me I would really appreciate it. I thought I knew about smoking but I guess not. Thanks again, and take it easy,

Neal

Do you go by the leading coefficient or the multiplicity..

Ex...3x^4+7x^3+x^2-7x-4

How many zeros...I got three (1, -1 and -4/3)...so does that mean we go by leading coef...basaically, how can u tell?

THANKS!

Ok so here is my thinking...

Scientists can study an atom and predict exactly how it will react/behave in the next second.

If there was a computer powerful enough to know exactly what every atom in the entire universe was doing then would it also be reasonable to assume that a sufficiently powerful enough computer would then be able to predict exactly what would happen next EVERYWHERE? Does this argue the point that there is no such thing as freewill and that our lives are mapped out for us?

So my mates and I were mucking around in a tree and I slipped and fell three metres or so out onto the ground. I was unconsious and my mate called for an ambulance. Woke up five days later, was told I had been put in an induced coma, and had and operation to reduce brain swelling a pressure/drain fluids and another to put pins and rods into my ankle which was smashed. I had amnesia from the day of the accident and barely remember my stay in hospital. Last night I had a dream / consious thought and could feel the doctor putting the tube into my throat and the pin and rod in my foot. Could they of operated on me without anesetitic as I was in an induced coma or was it just me remembering nothing? Im still suffering head pain and need to get another MRI this week as doctors think my headahces are caused by more bleeding! Shi* IM scared

ok, the given series is, summation 1 to infinity of (n^4 * x^n)/2(n-1)! and we need to find the radius and interval of convergence

the ! is the factorial symbol not me exclaiming... hehe...
ok so
an + 1/ an = absval.( (n+1)^4 * (x^n+1) / 2(n)! * 2(n-1)!/n^4 x^n )

absval. ( (n-1) (n + 1)^4 x / n^4 )
(1-1/n)(1+1/n) / 1/n (x)

and then what? what am i supposed to do with 1/n in the denominator.
