is there any species on earth that has tightly curled hair or is this trait special to people of african descent?

tightly curled hair is not an uniquely human trait and since all humans are of african descent it is dificult to understand what you mean by the question.

Curly hair in all species has to do with how the molocules in the hair matrix is set down. In curly hair, the matrix is actually tightly fitting and so the hair bends. In straight hair the matrix is looser and so gravity can weigh it down. There are obviously many gradations in between.

One of the most famouse animals with curly hair is the sheep. They too have a different hair structure due to the molocule matrix. they tend to have different barbs on the ends of their strands that makes it great for spinning and weaving. But it also gives it that prickly feeling when you wear it.
