No. That's an incredibly stupid idea. Even if it WOULD be beneficial to have our world hotter (you been reading the news in the last 10 years?) then they'd be far better off doing it on Jupiter, as it's MUCH bigger than Saturn is.
Besides it might not even work. It's not as if they'd burn - stars don't burn as such, the process is more like what goes on in a nuclear reactor. If it was possible then the likelihood is it already WOULD be happening. Jupiter would have to be quite a bit bigger before it would turn into a star.
For absolutely no benefit it's just idiotic, it'd just be plain reckless - quite aside from the fact it's impossible. There was a similar conspiracy theory about the Gallileo probe doing this to Jupiter. It's impossible, and such a thing was never planned.

They could send all the bombs to saturn or jupiter they want,, No matter what they will not turn into a sun or a star or anything,, there is not enough mass in either one to become a sun,, And this is all news to me about sending a bomb to saturn,, Thats not gonna happen,, Also take note of this,, The Shoemaker/levy 9 asteriod that slammed into jupiter was way more massive than a bomb could be and it did not make the gas giant into a star or sun either way you want to look at it,,

And what would be the point? A bomb going off in a gas giant might make a bunch of noise, but wouldn't do anything else.
No man-made bomb would be powerful enough to "ignite" one of the gas giants -- even Jupiter or Saturn. They're "failed stars" -- collections of gases with insufficient gravity to cause enough collapse and compression to ignite the fusion reaction that powers a star.
Sounds like some silly Hollywood movie idea to me.

What would be the point to something so stupid? It certainly would not create a new star. Saturn is a gas planet so there wouldn't even be any little pieces of it flying like projectiles. Saturn is many, many times larger than the Earth, so a bomb would have to be bigger than needed to pulverize our entire planet, if you wanted it to make any significant changes to Saturn. Even if there was some idiot out there who might be plotting something like that, it would not make any impact to Earth. Dont worry about such nonsence

people have said the united states was trying to do it. no they are not it is impossible. they think that you could set off a nuclear missile on Saturn which would start a chain of reactions turning it into a star, its just simply not possible. sure a nuclear bomb would be a little larger on saturn because some hydrogen would be fused from the explosion, but saturn cannot sustain nuclear fusion. people that came up with this theory are just...god i cant even think of a word.

Let me get this straight. You say the Discovery Channel aired it for all to see, and yet you think mentioning it on Wacko! Answers is going to start World War 3?
I'm not surprised that you're not sure what the show said.

I dont think "plotting" is the right word, but I am sure people have hypothesized that blowing up something on Saturn would ignite all the hydrogen setting it ablaze, but I seriously doubt they will ever be able to test it.

no,any scientist would know Saturn, even Jupiter, are far,FAR too small to ever become a star.Every nuke in existence would accomplish precisely nothing. It CANNOT be made to happen. That is pure, undebatable fact
