Who are you talking about? Huey Newton?? There used to be some group called Huey Newton and the News. Since I never listened to them I cannot say whether they made any astronomical predictions. If they did, I would wonder why anyone would believe them.
Certainly not Sir Isaac Newton. He was a little screwy, spending a great deal of his later life in alchemical research, an utter waste of time. But common for that era. But he never made such an absurd claim.
I used to have a cat named Newton, but as far as I'm aware he never made any predictions. He was much more interested in mice than astronomy. He did spend many nights outside, even in cold weather doing who-knows-what. It could have been astronomy I suppose, but if pressed I would guess it was pleasing that little temptress female cat down the street.

Not exactly -- that is just the sensationalized tabloid interpretation.

Newton didn't believe that the world ends in 2060. Rather he felt that it wouldn't end till after then. And this was based on his lengthy search for hidden messages in the Bible. Scientists of that age were not like the scientists of today. Aside from physics and mathematics, Newton dabbled in alchemy and biblical prophecy too.

Newton was wary of prophetic date-setting and concerned that irresponsible, failed predictions could bring the Bible into disrepute. His calculations about the 2060 date were private and not meant for the public.

PS. Newton was a genius in certain fields, and as fallible as anyone else in others. I wouldn't take the 'prediction' seriously, from either scientific or religious perspectives.

Hogwash. all people who assumes they understand how existence will adapt to any changes that would or is probably no longer cataclysmic is offering an asinine argument. existence has survived a number of mass extinctions, it would be naive to anticipate that abruptly earthlings at the instant can't conform. there's an incredible threat the international would be very differnt in 40 years, yet there's an outstanding threat it won't. something as dynamic because of the fact the biosphere won't be able to be predicted in a lot of those techniques, except you're making assumptions "If there is x quantity of greenhouse gasses in our atmosphere AND something else occurs, then _______ will ensue interior of four an prolonged time" is plenty much less complicated to declare than "If I turn off my pc an hour early, no longer something will ever replace into extinct."

Au contraire, my friend. Newton view on the universe was that it was stable, predictable and permanent. For centuries, scientists have tried to find the rules that could predict anything anytime. Alas later came the quantum mechanic boys, saying that nothing can really be predicted accurately.

I don't believe Newton ever made predictions on the fate of the earth. He left that to the non-scientists.
