I'm in college and I struggled to get a C+ in chem 1. I thought I had a pretty good grasp of it but I just can't understand electron shells and all that stuff. As far as we went was 3d electron diagrams, tetrahedrals, trigonal bipyramidal etc.

Could I handle chemistry 2? I registrered for it next sem. but I don't know anymore, does it get much more complicated?

I am doing a science project on batteries . I know this is something people don't normally believe in, but I tried it and it worked. Now what I have to do is write a report on it, using the scientific method. I'm pasting the document I wrote up below this, please correct my errors or anything I can do to make it better. I need it in less than 13 hours, so any help is really appreciated.

A perfectly straight tunnel is drilled trough the Earth, from the North pole to the Equator, as seen in the link (curtesy of "Jack"):

http://s226.photobucket.com/albums/dd11/jackphotos123/?action=view¤t=Cat3b.jpg

Let's say the tunnel is exactly 9020 km long.

The tunnel's floor is flat and coverd with solid Skatelite material.

Bart decides to try his new skateboard in the tunnel.

He stands at the very edge of the tunnel, which is at a 45 degree angle from his skateboard, he slides right in.

Lisa is waiting on the other side with a long rope, tied to a solid tree, 1 km from the hole, just in case.

If Lisa needs to throw the rope in to help her brother out of the tunnel how long a rope would she need?

Is the straight tunnel the equivalent of a 9020 km halfpipe?

Would its "equivalent shape" be the same as the arc of the Earth over the lenght of the hole?

Equation of the line:

(x-1)/3 = (y+3)/1 = (z)/2

Given point (2,3,1)

Find the equation of the plane that has this line and point.
____________________
OK so I got to this point:

In vector form, r(t) = (1,-3,0) + t(5,1,2)

Let t = 0 then (1,-3,0) is in the plane
Let t = 1 then (6,-2,2) is in the plane

So I now have 3 points on the plane. How do I use this to find the equation of the plane?

If I assign "P,Q,R" to these and use:

n = (q-p) x (r-p) = (x,y,z) etc.

Does it matter what point is assigned to P,Q or R? This is what I can't get my head around.

I understand that time dilation is when the gravitational pull will change the distance the speed of light is traveling. However, how would this work for a mechanical clock? Say the arms of the clock act as the speed of light and it sits on a strong gravitational pull. Since the arms travel in a circle it would be faster going from the 12 spot to the 6 (since it is moving toward the pull) but slower going from the 6 to the 12 (since it is moving away from pull)? Therefore, evening itself out and there would be no time change, right?

this is for my chemistry class. if u didnt get the question its, if you covered washington state in one mole of M&M's how many miles deep would it cover? i figured out that there is 22 M&M's per 25 mL or 22 M&M's per 25 cm^3. I dont know where to go from there and i need to show all my math steps. some helpful conversions he gave me were 1 mole = 6.022 x 10^23. 1 mL = 1 cm^3. and 1 mile = 1.6093 km. and washington state area = 68,182 miles^2 HELP!

May sound silly but, is space made up of
a)quantifyable parts or
b)completely empty and essentially non-existant?

Presumably answer A signifies a finite universe surrounded by event horizon and B signifies that only matter is finite within a potentially infinate\reoccuring arena?

Does anyone know or are we all just spouting crap?
