A right circular cylinder is 188.5 square inches ,if its height is 7 inches,what is it radius?
A = 2pi r h+2pi r^2
188.5=6.28(7)r+6.28r^2
6.28r^2+43.96r-188.5=0

An air rescue plane averages 300 miles per hour in still air. It carries enough fuel for 5 hours of flying time. If,upon take off,it encounters a wind of 30 miles per hour and the direction of the airplace is with the wind in one direction and against it in the other,how far can it fly and return safely? Assume that the wind remains constant.
300/(x-30) + 300/(x-30) = 5
[300(x-30)+300(x+30)] /(x-30)(x+30) =5
600x/x^2-900 =5 ?

Some researchers believe that the dinosaur Barosaurus held its head erect on a long neck, much as a giraffe does. If so, fossil remains indicate that its heart would have been about 11 m below its brain. Assume that the blood has the denisty of water, and calculate the amount by which the blood pressure in the heart would have exceeded that in the brain. Size estimates for the single heart need to withstand such a pressure range up to two tons. Alternatively, Barosaurus may have had a number of smaller hearts.

How can I calculate the vertical velocity at the end of an objects time interval with Net Force, Mass, Time and Angle given. The question is worded: A net force of 17.0N is applied to a 0.34-kg soccer ball for 0.090s causing it to move off at 28 degrees above the horizontal. Determine the vertical velocity of the soccer ball at the end of the 0.090-s time interval.

Any help is much appreciated!!

I want to construct a magic apparatus that will enable a small electric shock to travel from the device through my body to the spectator's hand just my touching my hand to theirs. I would really like to buy this device, but it's a little expensive, so I'd rather build one myself. Any tips?
Check the hyperlinked website for a preview of the real device and to understand the desired effect.

Will the ball reach home plate without bouncing? (or on the "fly") If not, how far away from home plate will the ball bounce? If so, what will be the height of the ball when it gets to home plate?

so i watched this thing on tv where through a telescope we, on earth, saw a star explode like millions of light years away, therefore we literally watched the past. it made me ask does time even exist? why is it to a dying man 14 seconds can seem like our standards of an "hour" and why to a little girl being at disneyworld half a day can seem like this same "hour"? If we look at a planet two light years away...we in 2007, currently view a planet in its 2005 state ... so basically we all have different perspectives, so does time exist or does it make no sense or is it simple relative?

I'm stuck on these few problems. Somebody please help me I've been struggling for an hour now.

I need to find the derivitive:

1. f(x) = (2x^2 + 5)^7
2. f(x) = 1 / 3 square root of 3 - x^3
3. y = x^3 square root of x + 1

this one need you need to find the tangent line equation
4. f(x) = square root of 2x + 1 (4,3)

this one you need to find the acceleration
5. f(x) = square root of x^3 + 1 with x = 2

all answers/help/suggestions are appreciated
Thank You
