Can someone list 1 or 2 reactions that I could do to tell which solution is which (they're in unlabeled bottles).

The Ca2+ ion will react with CO2 gas to form a white solid (milky solution). You can carefully exhale through a soda straw in to a 5 ml sample of each solution. The one that turns milky is the Ca(OH)2 solution.

The NaOH should remain clear. Again be very careful, wear safty glasses and don't inhale!

Alternately you could do a fame test with a Q-stick dip in the solution. In a burner flame the Na+1 will reveal itself with an intense orange flame. The Ca+2 flane will not be organge unless it is contaminated with Na+.

Hope this helps!

Find out which salts of calcium are insoluble (all common salts of sodium are soluble).. Also, can you do a flame test?
