How long has NASA been around for?

I believe they started in 1958 or 1959.

NASA - National Aeronautics and Space Administration were put together in the late 1950's to deal with all non military aspects of space and to provide information about space to American tax payers.

They are gearing up for their 50th anniversary. They have sort-of already started because they were an advisory committee in 1957.
