So my mates and I were mucking around in a tree and I slipped and fell three metres or so out onto the ground. I was unconsious and my mate called for an ambulance. Woke up five days later, was told I had been put in an induced coma, and had and operation to reduce brain swelling a pressure/drain fluids and another to put pins and rods into my ankle which was smashed. I had amnesia from the day of the accident and barely remember my stay in hospital. Last night I had a dream / consious thought and could feel the doctor putting the tube into my throat and the pin and rod in my foot. Could they of operated on me without anesetitic as I was in an induced coma or was it just me remembering nothing? Im still suffering head pain and need to get another MRI this week as doctors think my headahces are caused by more bleeding! Shi* IM scared

For the heck of it, I'll add the fact that I was apparently in and out of it in the ambulance and I had to be tied down and couldn't be intubated by them as I was upchucking that days food...apparently the ambo was forcefull and I hit my head on the trolly :P

OK, as you were put into INDUCED COMA, the drug used on that is an ANESTHETIC DRUG itself.

Well, as you were in induced coma from the time of the operation, most commonly there is nothing you can remember. However if you got some feelings of remembering few things that had happened that time, no one can argue on that. There are anecdotal stories of those who had general anesthesia of sensing some events of the surgery so remembering what happened can be given a possibility.

Anyway, the way you are in here on Answers! sounds you are recovering too quickly. Try to overcome whatever discomforts you are having now and be strong. Hope you will get well soon!

Sounds like you suffered a concussion with closed head injury with retrograde amnesia. This can do odd things to your behavior, esp in the ambulance. The subconscious mind is a fascinating place. Are you remembering what happened, could be. Is it your mind inventing things to fill in the gap of your memory loss, maybe. Head aches after a concussion is called post-concussion headache syndrome. You do need the MRI since you had swelling and bleeding in th brain. If nothing new is found then post- concussion headache syndrome it is. The headaches can last for months or years. The memories may never come back. Good luck.
