Heat death is among the ways speculated that the universe as we know it will end up. If that happens, will anything be able to live anywhere at any level of operation? If so, what might life be like for them? Could any civilizations survive into this era?

I have to find the x-intercept of y=cube root(-x+1) +2. I worked it out as follows:

(Important: +2 is not part of the cube root, only -x+1 is under the root)

0=cuberoot(x+1)+2
cuberoot(x+1)=-2
x+1=-8*
x=-9

* I cubed both sides to get rid of the cube root.

When I type it in a graphing calculator it appears that x-intercept is actually 9, not -9.

It doesn't seem right since the high silica minerals have lots of strong covalent bonds, and the mafics have some weaker ionic bonding.

all non-metallic compounds and draw
the molecular model for any metallic compounds. Tell what kinds of bonds form (pure covalent, polar
covalent, ionic, or metallic), and indicate whether or not there is a resonance hybrid.

CIF3
NO3-1
Ca
MgO
F2

I have no problem with NO3-1, F2, or ClF3.

But I can't figure out what to do with MgO at all, and before I get all the people yelling at me, yes I have been through my text book and everything I can find on the web.

My other issue is Ca. Isn't Ca an atom and not a compound? If it is a compound how does that work?
