Did Claude-Louis Navier and George Gabriel Stokes came up with their equations which accounted for viscocity by studying each other's "money shots?" I mean, there is very valuable data to be had there and I just wonder if they took it into consideration. Or would the difficulty in establishing a constant velocity render it moot?

Ricardo, of mass 81 kg, and Carmelita, who is lighter, are enjoying Lake Merced at dusk in a 29 kg canoe. When the canoe is at rest in the placid water, they exchange seats, which are 2.6 m apart and symmetrically located with respect to the canoe's center. Ricardo notices that the canoe moves 46.5 cm horizontally relative to a pier post during the exchange and calculates Carmelita's mass. What is it?

Base layer is rectangle nxm, and has arbitrary chosen pattern of brick colors.
The bricks in each next layer nxm are chosen so, that
the color of each brick satisfies the following conditons:

1) Each black brick has even number of black neighbours;
2) Each white brick has odd number of black neighbours.

Prove: there will always appear a layer at certain
height, which pattern is similar to the base layer,
but all colors reversed.

That is if base layer is for exmaple
bwbw
bbbb

then sooner or later layer colored as
wbwb
wwww
will appear.

For f(x) x^3 (x-1)^2 (x+6)^4, determine:

a. the x- and y- intercepts, if any

b. whether f(x) touches or crosses the x-axis at each intercept

My answer:

a. The intercepts are (0,0), (1,0), (-6,0). How do I find out which one crosses or touches. I need to be able to do this without using a graphical calculator.

Thanks.

I've always tried to be the kind of person who does really well in school/college, has time to spend with family and friends, works part-time, and still manages to help people by doing volunteer work.

So far I have not succeeded.
If I get a job, my marks suffer... if go out with friends or family, I have no time for this and that.... how do you get out of this constant stuggle?

Tossing Your Lunch. Henrietta is going off to her physics class, jogging down the sidewalk at a speed of v. Her husband Bruce suddenly realizes that she left in such a hurry that she forgot her lunch of bagels, so he runs to the window of their apartment, which is a height h above the street level and directly above the sidewalk, to throw them to her. Bruce throws them horizontally at a time t after Henrietta has passed below the window, and she catches them on the run. You can ignore air resistance.

With what initial speed must Bruce throw the bagels so Henrietta can catch them just before they hit the ground?
Take free fall acceleration to be g.

Where is Henrietta when she catches the bagels?
Take free fall acceleration to be g.

i know how to do it when there is actual values, but in this case it is all symbolic so im struggling to achieve correct answer.

Best i could do is: V(t+sqrt2h/g) all divided by t

wrong tho, help please, if someone could explain the method needed
