Why do you often times see a lone tree in the middle of a field, and does anyone have ant reference's to the answer. Best I could find was, shade for the farmer, nutrients for the soil, last tree used as pulley system for plowing other trees.

I already know that you wrap wire around a nail and close the circuit with a battery. My question is what voltage battery do you use and what gauge wire? I need numbers!

Thanks,

What size cable would one need to supply 400 amperes, 380v 3phase 60 Hz at a distance of 1000 metres? Or is it better to go to transformers and high voltage. All power is by way of gensets. Right now we have numerous gensets on this farm. All are critical power scenarios. Any advice is very welcome. Cheers.

Given subspaces H and K of a vector space V, the sum of H and K, written as H + K, is the set of all vectors in V that can be written as the sum of two vectors, one in H and the other in K; that is,
H + K = {w : w = u + v for some u in H and some v in K }

a. Show that H + K is a subspace of V.
b. Show that H is a subspace of H + K and K is a subspace of H+ K.

I am completely lost on this problem so any information on a solution or how to solve it would be greatly appreciate. Thanks a lot.

Among U.S. cities with a population of more than 250,000 the mean one-way commute to work is 24.3 minutes. The longest one-way travel time is New York City, where the mean time is 38.3 minutes. Assume the distribution of travel times in New York City follows the normal probability distribution and the standard deviation is 7.5 minutes.

What percent of the New York City commutes are for less than 30 minutes?

What percent are between 30 and 35 minutes?

Nick does the same thing as Bob, only he keeps rolling until he gets a 5 and he calls the sum of his rolls Y. At the end of the game, Bob pays Nick Y dollars and Nick pays Bob X dollars. Does one of the boys have an advantage over the other? Which one?

If you could dig holes as indicated above into the surface of the Earth and keep all water out, how many would you need in order to drain the entire ecosphere from Earth's surface? An extra factor to consider aside from the depths of the holes is the soil displacement that would end up raising the surface of the Earth somewhat while also raising the altitude of the ecosphere.

Just curious...
