A gymnast of mass 70.0 kg hangs from a vertical rope attached to the ceiling. You can ignore the weight of the rope and assume that the rope does not stretch.

A) Calculate the tension T in the rope if the gymnast hangs motionless on the rope.
Express your answer in newtons.

B) Calculate the tension T in the rope if the gymnast climbs the rope at a constant rate.
Express your answer in newtons.

C) Calculate the tension T in the rope if the gymnast climbs up the rope with an upward acceleration of magnitude 1.30 m/s^2.
Express your answer in newtons.

D) Calculate the tension T in the rope if the gymnast slides down the rope with a downward acceleration of magnitude 1.30 m/s^2.
Express your answer in newtons.

Why is oxygen an ideal electron acceptor in cellular respiration? I would guess it's because of its electronegativity but I'm not sure.

Any help on this physics homework problem is appreciated. I've tried it and have no idea how to properly relate the energy equations to this scenario.

An engine-less space capsule is launched from the surface of the Earth and travels into space until it experiences essentially zero gravitational force from the Earth. The initial speed of the capsule is 18,500 m/s. What is its final speed? Assume no significant gravitational forces from other solar system bodies. Mass of Earth = 5.97e24 kg. Radius of Earth = 6.38e6 m.

basically i know that in snooker or billiards or pool when you hit the cue ball at a stationary object ball the paths they follow after collision are at right angles to each other. i was wondering if anybody knew any mathematical proof that shows that this is true.

So I was in SF at the Mezanine parking garage, across from the Metreon waiting in the car for my boyfriend to pay for our parking, and I got bored so I decided to take a picture. I looked at it when we got home and noticed a super weird light. I couldn't figure out where any of it came from, and I started thinking about how sometimes paranormal activity shows up in pictures and stuff...could that be it? I'm looking for anybody that knows anything about this stuff -- thanks. Heres the picture.

If humans at one time could travel at the speed of light and made their way across the galaxy, then the world wich they have left would be completely diffrent then the world at which they returned. If this is the case it answers many of the unaswered questions from the items that we have found from the past. Such as the Crystal Skulls from the Myans and the Pyramids found across the world. If the world at one time was advanced and was hit by a meteor or such, it would change the axis. The world at which we are walking now was at once the artic and the artic at one time was the Rainforests of yesterday. When Humans are displaced they make what is comfortable to them and what they know. This is why we find Pyramids across the world. If you lost everything you would still build a house and a bed however you would have lost the ability to create the elaborate creations of which you once had. Just Think about
