If you're talking about the fastest speed that they CAN achieve - then the peregrine falcon is the winner.
The fastest "land" animal is the cheetah - which can achieve approximately 68-mph at best.
To quote:
"The Peregrine Falcon is the fastest animal on the planet in its hunting dive, the stoop, in which it soars to a great height, then dives steeply at speeds of over 322 km/h (200 mph) hitting one wing of its prey, so as not to harm itself on impact. It should be noted, however, that in level flight the fastest-flying bird is the White-throated Needletail (capable of 170 km/hour (105 mph)) and either animal is often quoted as being the fastest on earth."

It all depends on what you mean by "faster". If you mean top speed achieved, even for a brief moment, the peregrine falcon is fastest in a "stoop". However, that can't be maintained for very long. The same is true of a cheetah. Like greyhounds, they're very fast for the first hundred metres; then they poop out. A saluki (dog) can outrun any animal over a three-mile straight course. For broken-field running, as in chasing down a rabbit, an afghan (dog) might be faster.

Peregrine falcon: 200 - 242 mph (1)
Cheetah: 70 mph (2)
Edit: To the guy above me...I obviously can't give myself a thumbs-up, and I didn't thumb you (or the guy above either) but 'someone' came around and gave me a thumbs-down...
BTW...answers are more believable with a *source* ; perhaps that's why I got the initial thumbs-up and you two got thumbs-down (?)
I *will* thumb you now however for being, in your own words, "an illiterate f***."

I see different figures, but some birds have supposedly been clocked at 160 or more miles-per-hour, while a cheetah runs up to 70 mph.
