in a question such as;

f(x)=4x² +12x + c
where c is a constant

could f(x) be the same thing as y?
i know that f(x) stands for the value of the function of f at x but i don't know waht that means.
would it still work if i just made it y=4x² +12x + c?
it would make things much easier

Here is problem statement

http://i218.photobucket.com/albums/cc298/curseofgoldendragon/comp.jpg

please use browsers zoom to see it clearly.

Here is an Analysis for the above problem.
http://s218.photobucket.com/albums/cc298/curseofgoldendragon/?action=view¤t=result.jpg

I could not understand the red marked part of the analysis.
Initially , they used the conditions from the second "Further" block.

and then they used the conditions from the first "Further" block.

I dont understand the red marked part of the analysis....i made a red mark there.

why they are saying ,"...Now from the above result , C must be a construction company,D must be an automobole company ...."

why they used the word "MUST" ???

as we know C,H,I,L are Construction company , so evidently C is a construction company.........i dont understand why they are specifically targetting C and telling its a "must" construction company ? whats the fuss here ?

What are the intervals in which the function F(x)= tan2x is continuous?
I really want to say continuous at every interval because in my book it says that trig functions are continuous on every point in their domain, but i'm not sure.

My textbook is Calculus of a single variable, seventh addition.

So here's the problem... and at the end i have to make a spreadsheet including the data...

Two people have a bank acount for thirty years

Mari- Starts at the 0 mark putting in $1000 per year at 6% annual interest rate for 10 years, then stops putting in money, letting it sit for 20 years.

Phranc- Waits 10 years then puts in 1000 per year at 6% interest every year for 20 years.

What would the equations be to figure the problems out?
I know the A=P(1+r)^t equation, but with all of the variables...
How do i figure it out!

I've thought about building a Tesla coil but that requires a fly-back transformer of which there's one in an old TV and another in a computer monitor that's seen its day.

I know these things retain voltage long after unplugged. With the proper precautions, is it safe to extract these and build a Tesla coil?
