A point is moving with constant speed alonga circle of radius 3 shown in the figure. When T=0 the point is at A and moves counterclockwise. Find the equation of position of the projection of this point over the horizontal diameter AC x(t) and sketch the graph corresponding to the interval of time from the start until it goes around the circumference two times. Consider that the point takes 2pi seconds to get from A to C.

I understand how to do the basic common denominator problems like the last one:

5/(x+2)-9/(x+2)

But the real problem is when the numbers added to x are different, that makes the problem more complex like this one right here:

3/(x+2)=2/(x+5)

What would be the first few steps in solving this problem?
(Please don't solve the whole thing, just show how to get rid of the fractioned x)

thanks again!

If anyone could explain how the following is done, it would be greatly appreciated!

Suppose that there is a tennis tournament with 32 players. Players are matched in a completely random manner, and we assume that each player always has probability 1/2 of winning a match. What is the probability that two given players meet each other during the tournament?

Problem number 1: A number consists of two digits followed by the digit 4. A second number starts with the digit 4 followed by the same two digits as used in the first number.

The equation for this problem would be 10x + 4 (first number) and (400 + x) - 400 (second number).

So the question is, if the second number is as much greater than 400 as the the first number is smaller than 400, what is the first number?

Problem number 2: Sea water contains 5% of salt (by weight). How many kg of fresh water should be added to 40 kg of sea water for the latter to contain 2% salt?

Problem 3: The length of a rectangle is increased by 20% while its with by 10%. What percentage increase is there in its area?

Problem 4: Emily wishes to mix two types of tea. Type A costs $0.36 per kg while type B costs $0.50 per kg. She then sells the mixture at $0.46 per kg and makes a profit of 20% of the total cost. What percentage of the total mixture is made up of type A?

1. Given the function v(t) is

(1/2)t when t is greater than zero and less than or equal to four

2 when t is greater than four and less than or equal to six

-t+8 when t is greater than six and less than or equal to eleven

3t-36 when t is greater than eleven and less than or equal to twelve

Find the distance function f(t) that corresponds to v(t).

2. Let f(x) = (2x + 3)^(1/2). Simplify
(f(x + h) - f(x))/h
and evaluate your simplified answer when h = 0.

3. Find (using any method you can think of) cos(x) = x.

Can you give me an answer and maybe an explanation. Thanks so much.
