My 6 year old is absolutely taken with the flow of blood through the body. She now asks if the food we're eating has cholesterol because she doesn't want to block her arteries. Tee Hee! I've taught her what I can remember from college anatomy, but now she wants to know about the path food takes and how it turns into waste. She also wants to know how our bodies fight off germs. I don't remember enough of all of that to feel comfortable teaching her. She also likes pictures (drawn or real) obviously. Any suggestions?

Is it really ok that we hold ourselves so hight above animals? We used to think slavery was ok, but today most agree that it was a dark time in our society.

What about animals? We imprison them in zoos, we keep them in tiny cages, we breed them for our own purposes, we sell them.......Is it arrogant that we concider ourselves so far above these creatures who share our planet? Is it arrogant to assume these creatures were created for our entertainment/use?

Just some thoughts... Please, respect animals, just because they are unable to defend themselves, does not make excuse to abuse them.

atom is becuase the total negative charge of all its orbitals is greater than the total charge of almost all other elements. ((While reactions are either a matter of gaining electrons or losing electrons, oxygen's strong charge causes it to accept or share electrons and therefore giving it a stong affinity for covalent bonds.))

Okay, hi! First off, how do you find a horizontal asymptote? I know that for a vertical asymptote, you just find the value that makes the denominator equal zero, right? Well what about the horizontal asymptote?

And I also have a question about the reduction formula with trigonometric equations.... I'm using the formula y = Asinx + Bcosx = √(a²+b²)sin(x + C), and everything comes out okay until I get to problems like these:

y = -3sinx - 5cosX

I got √(34)sin(x+2.1), but my book says that the answer is √(34)sin(x+4.2).

Similarly, for y = -√2 sinx - √7 cosx, I got 3sin (x + 2.1) and the book says 3sin (x + 4.2).

What am I doing wrong?

Thank you so much! I'll pick a best answer as soon as it lets me (I think 4 hours after I post the question)! Okay thanks!
