Okay you have two types of #'s prime and composite. If it's not prime it is composite. Just in case a prime number is a number that is divisible by only 1 and itself. ex 5 is prime because you can only make 5 by taking 1 X 5.

Now a composite number is a number that has other factors.

Example... 10 is composite, because you can have 1 X 10 but also you can get 10 by taking 2 X 5

I hope that helps.

There are two kinds of numbers. Prime numbers are only divisible by themselves and 1. For example, 7 has only 7 and 1 as factors. Composite numbers are numbers that have other factors besides the number and 1. For example, 8 can be broken down into:

2 × 2 × 2 and 1 × 8, so it is composite.

A composite number is a positive integer which has a positive divisor other than one or itself. By definition, every integer greater than one is either a prime number, the only factors are the number itself & 1, or a composite number. The numbers zero and one are considered to be neither prime nor composite. For example, the integer 14 is a composite number because it can be factored as 2 × 7.

Edit: Yes, positive numbers, greater than 1, are either prime or composite. [The smallest prime number is 2.]

take any positive number. if you can factor that number (divide that number by anything besides 1 or itself and get a whole number) then it is composite. basically it is the opposite of a prime number

for example 6 is composite because 6 = 2 x 3

A composite number is an even number that can be divided by more than 1 and itself. So any positive number from one to infinity that is not a prime number.

The first five composite numbers are 4,6,8,9,10
(1,2,3,4,and 7 are prime numbers instead of composite numbers because they can only be divided by theirselves and 1).
