My 6 year old is absolutely taken with the flow of blood through the body. She now asks if the food we're eating has cholesterol because she doesn't want to block her arteries. Tee Hee! I've taught her what I can remember from college anatomy, but now she wants to know about the path food takes and how it turns into waste. She also wants to know how our bodies fight off germs. I don't remember enough of all of that to feel comfortable teaching her. She also likes pictures (drawn or real) obviously. Any suggestions?

My kids used to ask me such questions too. I showed them pictures on the books and tried to explain as I could but they were more fascinated with the flash movies that explain how the different body systems work. You may find it interesting. Check out this link and watch the flash movies- quite interesting for young kids.
