Which do you mean?

3 + (10 - 3²)/4 = 3 + 1/4 = 13/4

[3 + (10 - 3²)]/4 = [3 + 1]/4 = 4/4 = 1

What you WROTE is the 1st. What most people ANSWERED is the 2nd.

firstly, it's not a formula
secondly, it's ambiguous because what you wrote may not be what you meant:
1.3 + (10-3^2)/4
is not the same as
[1.3 + (10-3^2)]/4

i will presume you meant the latter

start within the innermost parentheses
10-3^2
we must perform the exponentiation before the subtraction
10-3^2=10-9=1
so overall we now have
(1.3 + 1)/4
now again we perform the operation within parentheses first
1.3+1 = 2.3
now we have
2.3/4 = 0.575
(you should be able to do that last step without a calculator)

Math help: Get a tutor or talk to your teacher. On YA you can get an answer to a particular problem, but you're not really getting help. Real help is substantial and makes it unlikely you will ever need to get an answer off of YA again.
