Why do they always run a hot, common and ground for an electrical circuit when you can get a complete circuit just using the hot and a good grounding rod driven into the ground. This seams redundant and wasteful. Running three copper wires instead sure uses a lot more copper than just one wire with a ground. I take it there are things going on here that I do not understand.
Thanks in advance.

I'm trying to find out which oil to use in an air compressor.

The air pump recommends "air compressor oil", but it is being used in the food industry, and I need to know name/brand of a good food grade oil for this purpose. Thanks.

I was biking along and out of nowhere, I saw this yellow bird with what looks like black wings zoom by me. I didn't get a close look, but I was wondering if anyone has heard of such a bird? It was a pretty bright yellow and it looked like it had black wings, but it might have just been a stripe or something. Anyone know what kind of bird this is?

And can moons have things orbiting them like smaller moons. If so is there any observations of this. Also if a planet has multiple moons do they ever collide or will collide in the future based on speed differences and paths of a possible future collision.

They say that if you fall out of a building or bridge, you die in the air before you hit the ground. Yet, if you sky dive, you fall not only farther, but much faster, yet your body is totally fine. Is it true death comes during the actual fall (out of a building)? And if so, why?

Yes I know that there will be people out there there who will quote Einstein and say that to travel at the speed of light you will need an infinate ammount of power. But...is it possible? or more to the point is it feasable?

I would think an open palm since your using your pectoral muscles and have a greater range of motion, thus generating more power. Though the classic back-hand employs the use of a non-flexed wrist and also is seen more in popular culture as the marquee technique to knock someone down, not to mention the embarrassment factor of being back-handed.

Since the Columbia disaster NASA has spent a large amount of mission time surveying for tile damage. It appears now they’ve got a big ding.

My question is why do they use foam insulation? My lab typically stores these cryogenic fluids, and we do not use foam insulation for the storage and holding vessels. Our dewar has two walls and a vacuum between the layers. I’ve never seen any ice forming on my dewar, and the fluid lasts for days. Why don’t they use a double-walled evacuated external fuel tank?
