hi,

i hate to do this for i become too much dependent relying on your answers., however, please help me with these few questions. it really makes my brain twist..

1.) a child is flying a kite at a height of 40 ft, that is moving horizontally at a rate of 3ft/sec. If the string is taut, at what rate is the string being paid out when the length of the string released is 50 ft?

2.) sand is being dropped at the rate of 10m^3/min into a conical pile. If the height of the pile is always twice the base radius, at what rate is the height increasing when the pile is 8m high?

PS
please show your solutions. i think, these 2 problems are examples of the application of derivative .
in question # 2, i get 0.597m/min, am i right??

aarghh...i certainly need an answer to this..

thank you so much to those who would help..
:-)good day!

Plz write the steps to get to the answer, as well as the method of integration you used. Also if any part needs some thing from a law or rule, the the fundamental theorom of calc, plz mention that u used it and where:

int() = integral ()

1. int(x^3 * e^(-x^2) dx)
2. int(x^3 * (2+x^2)^(5/2) dx
3. int( abs(cos^2(x) * sin(x)) dx) range of integral is 0 to 2 pi and abs is absolute value of
4. int(x*e^(sin(x^2))) dx) range is -1 pi to +1 pi and i know the answer is 0 because the function iside the int is like oscilating...forgot the term. but plz either show how you prove its is even(maybe thats the term) or plz solve the integral.

Tks a bunch. Just write the number of the question by your answer. tks again

ive got a paper ive got to write for the start of this coming semester at school and the topic is prescription drugs and their recreational abuses. ive been doing some reading on oxycontin, which is one of the drugs im going to discuss due to its popularity and i noticed a mention that one method of taking it recreationally is by grounding it up and taking it orally. it said that this provided an instant high as opposed to the controlled release when in pill form but thats all it said. im basically wondering what other effects it has when taken by this method. higher risks of negative reaction due to the medicine coming in a rush rather than overtime? would all the effects of taking it in regular pill form be amplified? any answers would be greatly appreciated. thank you in advance.

Tonight I a friend I haven't seen or talked to in 12 years called me to say hi. Last night an old roommate I haven't seen in 5 years called to say he was thinking of me. I saw my cousin whom I haven't seen in 6 years a couple of days ago. Does it all mean something?? I'm scared...what if it is my time and they all just need to contact me to say good bye before I go. Do you think people will like me where ever it is that I end up??
