Hi....I'm only 14... and live in PA and would really like to work with wolves! I think they are BEAUTIFUL creatures, and know somewhat about them. Because of school I can only do something on the weekends. =[ Have any ideas??

You can try to focus on the education, and when you grow up, you can become a biologist or an animal expert and work with wolves all the time.

Volunteer!!! There are many organizations/ preserves/ sanctuaries out there.. do some research. You will have to start small and work your way up, but you will build a lifetime of memories! (Good Luck) I am a zookeeper and I have a pack of 5 wolves. I have to say that I would NEVER encourage ANYONE to partake in wolf hybrids. Wolves have a natural fear of humans and that is what keeps us safe. When you mix a domestic dog with a wolf, you end up with a wild animal that does not have a fear of humans.bad situation.. read up on it.. experts will always say no!

Find out about wildlife refuges/sanctuaries and see if you can volunteer there. I don't know if you would be able to do something with wolves specifically due to your age. If you live near a national park see if they offer the Youth Conservation Corps (YCC) during the summer. YCC is for high school students between the ages of 15 and 17. They work for 8 weeks at minimum wage. You could also see about volunteering at a zoo (in the canine or carnivore section). Maybe you could volunteer at a vet's office or at the humane society.

There are only two ways to work with wolves:
1. You outside and the wolves inside a cage
2. The opposite

(I just wanted to gain two more points)
Thanks

First I have to say that I respect your interest in wolves, they are truly amazing animals. One that should be respected, admired, and protected.

My recommendation to you is to learn as much as you can about them. Study biology, ecology, geology and any other subject that may pertain to wolves.

There is a good movie out there called "Never Cry Wolf" by Disney that truly portrays these great animals in their natural elements. Watch it, you will like, and it is emotional too. It will open your eyes to the plight of the wolf.

When I was 14 I wanted to be a hitman for the mob. Then I wanted to be a drug-dealer. Then I wanted to be an author, a male stripper, and all sorts of crap. Now I work as a cashier at Staples. Maybe it is time to get into reality.

Try this web site. Do well in science and become an zoologist, ethologist or mammalologist later in life.
