Where can I find out about working shallow-water (under 1,000 feet deep) O.T.E.C. power plants that are actually producing power? Can this be developed to work with rivers, too, using Thermoelecricity as the generator? At what point will I be able to obtain "net energy" after losses from the pumping of water?

Thanks for all suggestions.

For another example of an under-utilized nearly-free-energy application, this time, in transportation, check out this TV newscast in Youtube about an electric vehicle that works on dead battery cells:

Joke of the Day: What do you call a religious gathering with hell-fire preaching?
(Answer) A thermal mass.

Please help me with these questions:
Describe the stationary orbit of the surveillance satellites and give a general outline of how the satellite maintains a fixed position relative to an observer on Earth.
Make a list of advantages and disadvantages of satellite surveillance, explain why each is an advantage/disadvantage, and relate the advantages/disadvantages to individual rights and social issues.

Just a few questions. I need to learn how to solve them.

1. The pH of a solution is 2.1, what is the [OH-]?

2. When [H+] = 4.28 x 10-10 M, what is pH and pOH?

3. The pOH of a solution is 11.5, what is the pH and [OH-]?

4. If the hydrogen ion concentration of a solution is 9.58 x 10-5 M, what is the pOH and hydroxide ion concentration?

5. The hydrogen ion concentration of a solution is 6.25 x 10-12 M, what is the hydroxide ion concentration, pH, and pOH?

The main thing I don't understand is the negative logarithm thing. Just an easy to understand explanation would be a life saver.

We live in Minnesota and heard that Mars will be so close to us that it will appear as though we have two moons on (I believe Aug 27th at 12:38AM) we need to know if it would be visible enough on the evening before to still get the same effect or will it only happen at that exact time? Does it change the time depending on where you live or can everyone all over the world see it at the same time?

I am translating a travelogue written in German into English. Although I could translate the various parts of this compound-word name into English, it would not necessarily be the same as the English term. By the way, the name needs to be British English if there are differing terms in British and American English. Thank you so much. Google was no help in this situation. The author also says it is one of the 17 most poisonous snakes in the world.
