I am translating a travelogue written in German into English. Although I could translate the various parts of this compound-word name into English, it would not necessarily be the same as the English term. By the way, the name needs to be British English if there are differing terms in British and American English. Thank you so much. Google was no help in this situation. The author also says it is one of the 17 most poisonous snakes in the world.

Yes. It is called a Golden Eyelash Viper. It is thus named because of its golden color and the eyelash-like appendages growing above its eyes.

Sometimes German does not translate into English smoothly and vice versa. It is know as the Bothriechis schlegeli or the Eyelash viper.
