They found a planet, Gliece 581 C within the star's habitable zone. The first they've ever found. However it's year is quite short with it's day just slightly longer. Do you think that it is true that there will be a "Dark" side of the planet, that is too cold for life to actually exist? Or maybe the side with the star will be too warm and only those on the "Twilight" side will be able to support life. Your thoughts?

If there is life it would be very very unlikely that life on another planet would be at the same evolutionary stage as us because it would not make mathematical sense, therefore, it would have to be significantly brighter or dumber. Before you jump down my throats, just think of the odds that life on another planet would be at the same evolutionary stage as us - I reckon it would be the number of planets with life x the number of species x the number of years the universe has been in existence, hence a very large number.

Therefore life on another planet would seriously have to be either brighter than us or dumber than us. So if it is dumber than us, why are we the most intelligent life form in the universe and therefore what made us different to all the other beings in the universe that we are the only one to use technology or at the very least the most advance beings at using technology?

Can everyone explain why a magnet has such a property or characteristic? Can we use that property to generate unlimited energy since the magnetism is always there? Why?

Which of these would have a harder time JUST factoring in weather elements?

Take an Eskimo and put him somewhere hot and humid (say, the heart of Africa) or take a tribal African and put him in the Artic? Also, they will be taken to the other extreme climate in the dead of the season. Eskimo to Africa in July and the African to the Artic in January. The natives at the place they're being transplanted to WILL have proper clothing for them. Which one will have a harder time living? Will the Eskimo have more trouble with the scorching heat and the unbearable humidity? Or will the tribal African have more trouble in the bitter cold?

I'm currently a graduate student in philosophy, and have maintained a non-physicist's interest in questions concerning the "nature" of spacetime.

My question is:
Using the analogue of a three-dimensional spacetime, would is be possible, from a conceptual and physical standpoint, to represent objects on a two-dimensional spatial manifold, and represent time as a third spatial dimension, albeit one not spatially accessible to entities living on a two-dimensional manifold? What I am driving at is whether it is possible to reduce the physical concept of time to description in terms of higher-dimensional spatial coordinates; in our case, time would thus be defined as a fourth spatial dimension. In the example above, it would represent a third spatial dimension for two-dimensional entities.
Is there anything in extant physical theory to support or rule out this possibility? thanks!

I guess my intitial question would be how many people on Yahoo! Answers are aware of it, what are your thoughts, and if you think it's a "doomsday machine" you are retardly wrong.

if you have no idea what I'm talking about, I highly suggest that you "wiki" it... do a search for "LHC" or "CERN " or "Hadron Particle Collider" and you will be amazed...
