There are many reflexes, and several are tested during a standard neurological exam. Most commonly known is the knee-jerk reflex, where the patellar tendon is tapped with a small hammer. There is also the Babinski reflex: if you stroke the sole of a small baby, his/her toes will extend; if you do the same to an adult, the toes should curl. There is the corneal reflex: stroke the eye with a small wisp of cotton and there should be a reflex blink. A fun one is the caloric test, where cold water is injected into the ear and the eyes should move rapidly from side to side in response. For more info, search "neurological exam."

Did a project on relexes in elementry school. Someone held a ruler just above the the other person's hand and suddenly dropped it to see where the person would catch it. We recorded where the bottom of the hand grabbed the ruler.

It's probably only good in comparing reflexes tho.

When you have kids...........your reflexes are tested daily.
