I guess my intitial question would be how many people on Yahoo! Answers are aware of it, what are your thoughts, and if you think it's a "doomsday machine" you are retardly wrong.

if you have no idea what I'm talking about, I highly suggest that you "wiki" it... do a search for "LHC" or "CERN " or "Hadron Particle Collider" and you will be amazed...

I think it will make some major breakthroughs. Hopefully they'll find the particle they are looking for, and in the process make some other discoveries. Like how they found that they can use the LHC to treat cancer, because it can direct radiation to the tumor without damaging as many of the surrounding cells. My dad has been working on it, helping to design and create the power supplies (that's the part that the USA got), so I know more about it than others.

You are very condescending. There are plenty of people who know about that. It is located in Switzerland and its primary purpose is to find a sub-atomic particle which is without mass. If it does find it it will bring great advances to science. And it will have many spin offs the same as the Manhattan Project and NASA. It will also put the USA in second place in science as soon as it is commissioned.
Sic transit gloria America.
