So I like math and physics and chem all the things that have to do with engineering. but heres the thing I dont want to be in an office all day. I kinda want to be out in the field but I want to have the salary of an engineer and I want to go to school and get my B.A so what kind of engineering career do you guys recomend?

First of all you want to get a BE degree, not a BA.

It sounds like you're off to a good start. Math, phycis, and chemistry courses occur early in your college education to help weed out students.

In just about every engineering field there are jobs that spend a good deal of time "in the field".

Ditto on the earlier answer about that pretty much having to be a BS instead of a BA. Some of us engineering types can get touchy about that sort of thing for some odd reason. :)

Particularly if you actually like chemistry, I'd think about maybe environmental engineering. (I got to EnvE via a chemical engineering degree, and they love me for not *hating* chemistry and already getting it.) That's usually something civil engineers go into and sometimes only is offered as a specialization under CE, but there are really a lot of chemistry-based issues in the field as well as the obvious buildings/roads issues with civil engineering. The job security in any economy should be at least decent, since we'll always have both more messes to clean up and more government regulations about what's a hazardous material. Both the everyday waste that we focus on dealing with and any hazardous material clean-up tend to be outside, so you're going to need to go out in the field to look at it at least once in a while regardless of how much you need to do in your office.

If you get a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering (BSCE), you can take the option of accepting a job where you are mostly in the office or mostly on construction sites. The field position would probably be a construction manager of some type.

With my position, I am both in the office and in the field.

Maybe Civil or Petroleum engineering.
