One of the reactions that occurs in a blast furnace (where iron core is converted into cast iron) is that iron (III) is treated with carbon monoxide to produce elemental iron and carbon dioxide. Suppose that 1.64 x 10^3 kg of iron are obtained from a 2.62 x 10^3 kg of iron(III) oxide. Assuming that the reaction goes to completion (ie, no leftover iron(III) oxide) what is the percent purity of iron(III) oxide in the original sample?

Question 1:
In acute triangle ABC, segment AD is an altitude, the measure of angle ADB = 4x2 + 26, BD = 9x - 3, and DC = 6x +8. Find BC. Show all work to recieve credit.

Question 2:
Triangle PQR is a 30-60-90 triangle with right angle Q and segment PQ as the longer leg. Find the possible coordinates of R if P(2,6) and Q(2,-6). Show all work to receive credit.

Please help me do these. They are the last two questions I have to answer. Only serious answers please. THANKYOU!

a) The carbon dioxide of the atmosphere, being a nonmetallic oxide and acid anhydride, has a low solubulity in rain water but produces a slightly acidic solution. Write an equilibrium equation for the dissolution of carbon dioxide in water and identify the acid that is formed.

b) Calcium carbonate, the major component of limestone, is slightly soluble in water. Write an equilbrium equation showing the slight solubility of calcium carbonate in water.

c) Write a Bronsted equation for the weak acid formed in part a, showing how it produces hydronium ion in aqueous solution.

d) Using LeChateliers principle, explain how the weak acid formed in rainwater causes the dissolution of calcium carbonate. the consequence of this reaction contributes to the degree of hardness in underground and surface water supplies and also accounts for the formation of stalagmites and stalactites.

Background- I am installing a MODBUS connection from a RTU, aTelvent 2300, to a DCS for set point control of generator output for ESCC AGC (automatic generation control). I am using Dymec multimode fiber transceivers to haul the RS232 from a Substation control house to the equipment room of the unit.

For test purposes, in the initial phases, I programmed an additional RTU and had good communication between the substation RTU and the test RTU that was simulating the DCS.

When the DCS was connected to the substation RTU the serial analyzer function built into the RTU displays the poll from the DCS as "FR FR FR FR FR FR FR". I know MODBUS protocol, so I don't really need an explanation of addressing, function codes, exceptions, ECT. I am wondering if RS 232 line analyzers normally display framing problems this way? What are some of the problems that would cause framing problems? Connection is 9600 8-1-none. Ideas welcome (DCS factory Rep who programmed DCS is on vacation in Hawaii).

The following is an argument to prove that the direction perpendicular to motion doesnt contract. Is something wrong with the argument? (I know the results are correct) When two rings are at rest with respect to each other (when they are in the same frame of reference), they are exactly the same size. They are in a position similar to the tires on a car axle. Imagine that the rings travel toward each other. If the direction perpindicular to motion contracted then the postulate that all frames of reference are equally valid would be broken because ring 1 would see ring 2 to contract and go inside of ring 1 and ring 2 (because it is at rest in its own frame of reference) would see ring 1 contract go inside of ring 2.

Does anybody know how far below SEA LEVEL the fens are in the UK?

I can see the UK equivalent of New Orleans happening here with all the storms that are battering the UK.

I live on the edge of the fens and it is very worrying. Flash floods have never been this bad in my lifetime until this summer.
