Personally speaking, I believe this. It's a certainty that there is life in the universe, as surely as there are stars in the sky, life has or will evolve on some other planet somewhere else in the galaxy. I would not be hugely surprised if we find that life has evolved elsewhere on moons in our own solar system. HOWEVER, Whether that life has, developed interstellar travel, built ships and colonies and come to Earth for a vacation, is another matter.

I don't discount that another race may have developed interstellar travel or built colonies on other planets.

What we would be left with is this, An interstellar-travel capable race would have to have developed REASONABLY close to our Terran system or have very fast ships.

Again not impossible.

However, unless there is some sort of actual Star Trek like non-interference directive or something , why wouldn't they contact us directly. Barring a catastrophic ecological disaster or full-on nuclear war, it's pretty likely that we will form our OWN colonies on Mars and eventually the moons of Jupiter and elsewhere.

At that point, the "cat" (us) is out of the bag, and eventually, we would develop our own starships and travel to other star systems ourselves.

So while most all of this is science fiction, none of it should be particularly any more implausible than space-flight, space-stations or intercontinental air-traffic might have been to someone from the 1850's.

Besides which, you NEVER have someone get abducted or see a UFO or whatever and bring back clear photos of the alien crew having lunch on the ship , or pictures of the ship's doctor after just performing those exams people would swear they do. Nobody ever has brought back a test-tube or syringe or had anything in their body that couldn't be explained by some totally natural occurance.

If there's a non-interference directive, why then would we even suspect their presence, if they are more than malevolently curious, perhaps they are being sneaky and its some sort of X-Files episode, don't be so coy, just use some sort of bioweapon and be rid of us, snag up the smart humans and force them to shut down all the dangerous chemical plants or nuclear reactors and stuff after wiping out the other 99% of us or something.

You see that's the problem it's POSSIBLE but it kind of fails in the last mile.

Aliens travel trillions of miles and have molested "Myrtle" from Opachoa County, 450 times in the last 10 years - Or perhaps Myrtle needs to get out more and might need a bit of therapy as well, and oh by the way aliens didn't travel millions of miles to abuse you Myrtle.

Perhaps I'm wrong, perhaps it's more likely it would be the way things are with us, someone snags a lion or chimpanzee and as far as the other lions or chimps know, "Bob" the chimp is GONE and ain't comin' back.

But perhaps that's it, aliens are like those environmentally motivated folks among us who want to return animals to their natural environments, aliens don't have a prime-directive, they have a catch and release policy.

Whatever it is, it's not science, neither you, I or anyone else has ever been able to conclusively prove anything in this regard.

If some extraordinary claim is made, some extraordinary proof is required. if someone claims aliens are among us , I'd like to check out the spaceship, kick the tires, see the photos from home, check out the cuisine, and oh by the way, here's the paperwork for your resident alien form, you will need three forms of identification.

People had started seeing these flying objects way back in the 50's or so and thought they were UFO's and many thought there were some kind alien life form out in outerspace, such as in star trek and star wars.

if the level of reality and denial of empirical evidence on UFO's is anything to go by - these pseudo analytic criticisms definitely aren't the practise of the scientific method as suggested by karl popper in his 1962 conjectures and refutations.
you would have to be having real problems psychologically to dismiss ufos actually ,,, but as this is a [post] scientific list - why not leave these theatrical naysayers to their pseudo logic and not ask them any questions at all. Especially ones that they don't have the mindset to recognise

I definetly believe that there are cover ups for this topic. If one listenes to Neil Armstrong talk to Huston when he landed on the Moon, it is clear that he begins to describe strange lights and moving objects that should not be present. He also states that their technologie is much more supperior than ours (hoever, it is unclear who he means by "their" soviets or aliens). What is more sadening though is that uffoogiest, who try to uncover these misteries, are ridiculed and laft at for their efforts in the scientific community. If you think back once when scientists claimed that the earth was round they were ridiculed for that belief by their coligues as well.

wushuboy001 has given the best answer. Discussions of that type are a waste of space in a forum intended to answer scientific questions. It's pretty scarey to the fainhearted to contemplate what the Apollo astronauts accomplished with technology far more limited than what we have today. The same is true of our pioneer ancestors who travelled from coast to coast without an internal combustion engine, electrical device, or any of the items we would consider essential. Even more so it's true of the world travellers of ancient times who traversed the globe in primative sail-powered wooden boats without even a magnetic compass. There is an implied challenge to people alive today to match or exceed their accomplishments with our vastly greater resources. Or we can surrender to our fears and claim none of it happened.

The reason that there is no more publicity about UFOs is because it is not usefull for working people to waste their time on a boring subject.

It is the same cover up that forces us to remain silent about Ghosts and the sandman.
Also, please note that very few people talk about Santa Claus in July and August. That is because he is a robot that is being refurbished in Area 54 every summer...

Maybe because it could be a stupid and silly myth cranked up by some loony person like you or some ancester about something that never exist at all.
