On the surface of a hypothetical planet X, the atmospheric pressure is 9.72 x 10^6 Pa, and the temperature is 702 K. On the earth's surface the atmospheric pressure is 1.00 x 10^5 Pa, while the surface temperature can reach 320 K. These data imply that the planet X has a "thicker" atmosphere at its surface than does the earth, which means that the number of molecules per unit volume (N/V) is greater on the surface of planet X than on the earth.

1. A postal truck leaves its station and heads for Chicago, averaging 40 mph. An error in the mailing schedule is spotted and 24 minutes after the truck leaves, a car is sent to overtake the truck. If the car averages 50 mpg, how long will it take to catch the postal truck?

2. In the Klysler Auto Factory, robots assemble cars. If 3 robots assemble 17 cars in 10 minutes, how many cars can 14 robots assemble in 45 minutes if all robots work at the same rate all the time?

3. 3 times the first of 3 consecutive odd integers is 3 more than twice the third. What is the 2nd of the 3 consecutive odd integers? I did 3(x + x + 2 + x + 4) + 3 = 2(x +4) but didn't get it.

Thanks! Appreciated if you could show me all the steps algebraically.

Mechanical or aerospace engineering?
hi to everybody, this is my question:

I like aerospace engineering much more than mechanical engineering (but still I like it too), but perhaps aerospace is a very narrow field in which I won't be able to find many job opportunities or as much as if I were to study mechanical engineering. besides I think (eventhough I'm not completely sure) one can pursue a mechanical engineering degree which focuses/relates to the aerospace industry.

I will welcome any comments you may have and thank you very much

well this is a question i was unable to do.. we have to find the equation of a plane.. which is parallel to x-axis and we have the vector equation of the line.. so we need to cross product the direction vector of line and the other parallel vector to find the normal vector.. and then find the plane eq with the given pt on the line.. but the problem is what is the equation of the part.. PLANE PARALLEL TO X-AXIS? what will we denote it as and why???? help me ppllll

Because since air is made up of basically nitrogen and oxygen chemically combined, and water is made up of hydrogen and oxygen, why isn't a molecule of air heavier because hydrogen weighs a lot less and the total atomic mass of the elements of each one put together would mean air weighs more. I do not understand why it weighs less. Please help.

Please some one answer this b/c my friend and I got into a heated debate about this yesterday, to the point that he bet his iPhone, and i bet $600. He thinks that the earth spinning on it's axis forces a centrifugal force that makes the moon move around the earth. I, on the other hand, think that it is caused sort of like a sling shot as the moon comes closer gravity slings shots it back around us but not enough to escape earths gravity thus bringing it back around us again. Another debate we had was that he thinks we get a full moon when the moon is between the earth and the sun and the light on the moon is caused by a reflection from the earth, whereas I think that a full moon is when the moon is on the opposite side of the earth from the moon and light goes around the earth to hit it!!!!! somebody please help, I think I should get the iPhone, but I need to know the answer first.
