I never thought of a potato as a vegetable and some people say it is a veggie, the dictionary says the potato is >>>the starchy tuber of a widely cultivated plant, eaten as a vegetable, this plant... My neighbor says a potato is a root...

Someone on my first question used the potato as a veggie. Do ya'll look at it as a veggie fruit or a root???
thank you agalicktourq for bringing up the point, I never thought of a potato as anything but something that goes great with steak!!!

I'm in China and the TV is fairly new (supplied in an apartment by my language school). I believe this "wind", which is quite strong, consists of ions. Are they positive or negative ions, and could they increase cancer risk, for example?

There is also a new fridge which always smells of the freon coolant when the door is opened. Can this contaminate the food with harmful toxins?

In my opinion, both of the theories of the origins of life are quite vague and neither have a very solid foundation. Abiogenesis is pretty much the main factor. Does anyone know anything that is absolutely certain about creationism, rather than just beliefs? I know quite a bit about evolution already, but I'd like any information anyone has on that subject also. Thanks.

A uniform diving board, of length 5.0 m and mass 54 kg, is supported at two points; one support is located 3.4 m from the end of the board and the second is at 4.6 m from the end (see the figure below). What are the forces acting on the board due to the two supports when a diver of mass 62 kg stands at the end of the board over the water? Assume that these forces are vertical. [Hint: In this problem, consider using two different torque equations about different rotation axes. This may help you determine the directions of the two forces.]
