Hi. Because it is bow shaped. Actually circular but you only see part of it.

i believe cirric is right. it's a circle, but u only see bow part. i also think isaw a discvery program that it has to do with the circumference of the earth.

its in the shape of a bow, think bow and arrows. like semicircle.
