A 55.0-g piece of metal is heated in boiling water to 99.8 C and then dropped into water in an insulated beaker. There is 225 g of water in the beaker, and its temperature before the metal was added was 21.0C. The final temperature of the metal and water is 23.1 C. Calculate the specific heat of the metal.
Note: the specific heat for water is 4.184 J/gK

the balloon in the flask experiment?
(If not, it's where you put water into a flask and heat it to a boil, then take the flask off the flame and put a balloon over the flask's opening) What happens is that the balloon goes to the bottom of the flask, but can anyone explain exactly what happens? Does it have anything to do with any of the gas laws? (Charle's, Boyle's, Gay's)

I need to know these 3 things for an earth science exam

1.How did the great Bonneville Salt Flats form?

2.Describe the stages that dead and decaying plants pass through as they change into anthracite.

3.At the base of a very high cliff of igneous rock, you find several large fragments of rock. Some of these rocks look like masses of dark-colored glass: other rocks consist of large crystals. Assuming that the fragments of rock came from the cliff, which fragments most probably came from the top of the clifff, and which fragments came from the bottom? Explain.

I am interested in pharamacy, because I really enjoy learning about drugs/medicine properties and effects on body. I am in nursing school now, and haven't met prerequisites. Any comments/suggestions on how to meet this goal of becoming a competent pharmacist? I am unmarried and without children, if that helps, but I will work as a nurse after graduation and support myself through PharmD school. Thanks for any comments. Really appreciate it..
