They are dangerous because they absorb and reflect the energy in the microwaves, heating up and possible ruining the microwave oven. If you have an old microwave and want to see something cool, put an unwanted cd in the microwave and watch the show. Not dangerous, but it will ruin the microwave.

I am pretty sure all and any metallic objects. Once I put a peanutbutter jar in there for a few seconds and a little bit of the metallic lid was left of the ridge and it caught on fire, litterally it was about 3 milimeters of lid on the ridge.

It is dangerous, because metal in some configurations will develop eddy currents that heat the metal. Metal in other configurations will not have that problem.
Since you don't know which configurations will cause heat-fire, don't mess with it.
