I know pi is approximated by 22/7. This is merely an approximation, a rather innacurate one at that. I know that you can use several identities such as A=pir^2 or circum=2pir etc.

My question is, how do computers calculate pi to a zillion decimals? Do they calculate a circle, measure the circumference and divide by 2r? Or do they use a specific algorithm? This has always intrigued me. I take my Ti85 for granted too much I guess.

Why is it that if you applied too much grease into a bearing, bearing temperature will increase?

One time my friend is applying grease into the bearing of a fan motor but he put more than the amount specified by the motor maker and then suddenly smoke came out from the bearing and its temperature incresead till it burns. Why is it so? What happend inside the bearing?

In a two-child family, one child is a boy. What is the probability that the other child is a girl? I know that the answer is 2/3, but can someone plz explain this using the conditional probability formula P(B|A)= P(A and B) / P(A). given that event A is having a boy.

why do elements which by themselves are toxic but when forming a compound become harmless, even useful?

im really curious.. for example how is it possible that Sodium (Na) and Chlorine (Cl) both by itself are toxic and harmful to human health when forming a compound Salt (NaCl) becomes harmless and useful? same as with Hydrogen and Oxygen forming water? I'll appreciate sensible answers... thanks..
