LIfe needs a body,body needs self orgnising molucules,molucules are made of atoms,atoms are made of many subatomic particles,subatomic paticles are manifest form of energy.There are some known principle or laws whitch regulate their behavior.then what is life and its essence?Laws or Energyor somethingelse

first of all you are thinking in that direction that shows that you are satisfies with the things for which this world is running.
it is true that every matter in this world is made up of molecules and contains energy.you take the examples of the car which is made up by human being it has all the parts which a human being is having in the body. like pump of car is heart, combution chamber is mitocatria, oil is the blood , fuel is the our food, electronic control module(ECM) is our brain etc .........so here the car is made by us . it is produced for some purpose . its purpose is it runs and our purpose is to transport some load from one place to another. in the same way God has produced us for some purpose. the meaning of our life is that to understand the purpose then act accordingly.the basic difference between us and a car is that , the living body can not work without soul.the matter between car and living body is same car will work but living body will not work without soul. that is the extra part added to living body. that soul is the part which can be produced by God only.in fact it is the part of God.the car is being driven by us , we are driven by the soul.
now the human body consist of three things soul, brain, five senses. brain is the mediator between the soul and sences. like a drunkerd is under the control of sences and the renuntiator like vivekananda was under the contrl of soul.decisions are to be taken by brain in any case.if brain obeys the directions given by soul then we are doing our job for which we are born. if brain bypasses the instruction given by soul then he is wasting his time given by God.
so finally the purpose of life is to follow the soul's instructions and act accordingly easy or difficult whatsoever,then only ultimately goal of the life for which you are born can be understood.

life simply is what you put in as energy and what you give out as energy.. I don't mean to sound trite, but really life is a self created entity... it is what you want it to be.
