I get a kick out of how a lot of people try and really show off by trying to be exact when it comes to measurements in space. When no one has ever been to the Sun's core, what does it matter. If the Sun blew up we would see it 8 1/2 minutes later. 186,282.3959 miles per second is fast enough that the apelion and perihelion (or however they are spelled LOL) doesnt matter.

Apogee and perigee refer to the Moon's distance from the earth. You mean aphelion and perihelion, which refer to the Sun's distance from earth.
93 million miles = distance
186,000 miles per second = speed
speed = distance/time
and so time = distance/speed
time = 93,000,000/186,000 = 500 seconds
and as 480 seconds is 8 minutes the time taken for sunlight to arrive on earth = 8 minutes 20 seconds on average (aphelion on July 4th adds about 9 seconds to this and perihelion on January 4th reduces this by about 9 seconds).

Depends how you calculate it. About 9 minutes from the surface of the sun to the earth, but about a million years from the central core of the sun.

Just at 8 1/2 minutes if you divide the distance 93 million miles by the speed of light, 186,000 miles per second......

93 millions miles and light travels at 186,000 miles per second
divide 93 M by 186 K and you get around 8 minutes and 33 seconds

It depends. Do you mean from the core whrer it is generatde or from the surface? It takes millions of years to get from the center to the surface of the sun, but from that I'M NOT SURE.
