Pregnancy - January 2007

I am currently 29wks 3 days pregnant with my first child. In 8wks i am going to commence maternity leave for a year.

I am looking forward to a few weeks of being at home before baby comes (assuming baby isn't early) - i could really do with some rest and relaxation! lol. But i'm a bit daunted by being at home for a year.

I have always been very work-orientated. I enjoy the mental stimulation and i'm accustomed to the long hours and stress that comes with my work. Pre-pregnancy my work hours could be anywhere between 60-75hrs p/wk. As i've progressed in my pregnancy i've reduced them significantly to between 40-50hrs p/wk due to tiredness!

Thinking about being home for a year.. well i worry about adjusting. I know it won't be easy (looking after a newborn) but the mental stimulation won't be the same either.

How did you, or are you, adjusting to leaving a demanding fulltime job to staying at home to raise your baby?

I'm 19, I don't have much of a passion to do anything with my life other than becoming a husband and father. I don't want to be a doctor or a lawyer or anything like that. I'd be content with just a manuel labor job and some benefits so I can provide. I have a fiancee. Building a home and a family is all I want to do. I understand the responsibilities and all that so please don't give me a lecture. But I mean, is it "normal" for a 19 yr old to want a family and want to provide of that family?

my daughter is five and a half months old and for the last three months...my cervix feels really really low...like about a index finger deep inside of me..i can feel it and it feels really hard on the outside and really soft/mushy on the inside....is this normal??i have an appointment on feb 6 for a cyst so i plan on having him check it out then but i was just wondering if this is one of the things that just happens to your body after you give birth....

loss of appetite and sharp pains in groin area shooting up... no energy spurt more lazy hazy days.... and the baby didnt drop that one would expect at 9 months,,however appetite is pretty much slower in last 24 hours. had huge one now not hungry hardly at all..

Hi Everyone and Thanks to those who will give their advice, anyways My Fiancé and I are expecting a Little Baby Girl :) and we just can not decide on her name, see I like the name Ashley and he likes the name Mariah. they are really sharp crampy feelings shooting to my back...it feels like it is where my ovaries are, real low. It is very random, sometimes when i get up or i could be wakling or when i am sitting it will be a dull pain. It only lasts for a few seconds when it happens. What is going on? Are these contractions? Of course i will call my dr but i am just looking for some input. Thanks!!!

i had sex about a month ago ... and got my period 4 days late than my orginal date... and then the other day my friend asked if i got my period and i said not yet .then she said that i could be pregnant and still have my period and i thought thats a rare case to be pregnant and still have your period am i right ?

I've been looking into buying belly bands so I can continue to wear my clothes because maternity clothes are still too big. And I'm getting tired of wearing sweats all the time! Just wondering if anyone has worn them and can tell me if they actually do hold up your pants while they are unbuttoned and unzipped? Do they look as good on someone as they do in the pictures you see online? (smooth and such over your clothes) Also, where is the best place to get them for cheap? Thanks for your help.

I am about two months late!! Took two pregnancy test one at 2 weeks late and on at 5 and they were both negative know i feel sick, tired and i also have a lot a discharge the milky stick kind....... o yea i had sex two days before ovulating..... soooo what are the chances of being pregnant when my test came out negative

My OB gave me an ultrasound at 8 weeks and said the baby looked great. All my blood work came back normal and she said she expects me to carry to full term without any trouble.

I am now 11 weeks and I still worry about miscarrying because the first trimester is risky. I have no bleeding or cramping and haven't really "enjoyed" my pregnancy because I didn't want to get my hopes up.

Should I stop worrying about miscarrying now that I am 11 weeks?

Ok, i had my first ob appt today (im 14 weeks) and my doc gave me an ultrasound and feeled my uterus etc...the baby looked fine but she didnt use the doppler (she brought in the room) to listen to my babys heartbeat,and she didnt look on ultrasound for it either...i was hoping to hear him her/i asked her what the heartbeat was after watching us and she said prob like 140 but its too hard to tell right now( my baby was clear as day) could she see the heart beating itself or something? why wouldnt she give the doppler? p.s the heartbeat rate was not seen on us..

I had unprotected sex with my boyfriend and then approximately two weeks later started having light bleeding. It lasted about a week...I heard implantation bleeding can last that long, it just depends on the person. It was either brown or pink in color, no red...it wasn't like a normal period for me at all. It was extremely light instead of heavy and didn't come with any strong, painful cramps. It also came a WEEK earlier than I expected my period to come...they're usually very regular and I've never had spotting occur before.

I'm just wondering how common it is to go in for your first ultrasound and measure like you’re further along? Then the doctor had to give you a new due date? Has this happened to you? I have my first ultrasound next week and at my first doctors appointment I told him that my last period before I knew I was pregnant was very short. So I could be 10 weeks or 14 weeks? Will they be able to tell exactly for along I really am with an ultrasound?

I am 32 weeks prego. I know once the baby gets to a certain point, he/she slows down. ( cramped quarters) So why is it my baby is getting extreamly active? I'm talking about really going nuts for long periods of time? Just wondering if any one is going through this and did you ask you doctor about it? I do have an appointment on thursday before any one says go see your doctor. Just was curious to see what other people think. Keep in mind I dont drink coffee, eat sugar, drink pop or anything like that
