I am sure that everything is fine.... Your doctor has a well trained eye and probably saw the heartbeat even though you didn't!! If there was any doubt she would have told you!!!! Don't worry and just enjoy your pregnancy!!!

I went in for an ultrasound at 13 wks and the tech was able to see the heart and put the heartbeat on speaker so we could hear it and she was able to measure the rate because she checked to make sure that the heart was beating at a good rythum. A week before, at our dotors app we werent able to hear the heartbeat with a normal doppler. I would ask your doctor about this. Tell her that you are concerned because you know many people who had ultrasounds earlier than you were and the tech was able to get the heartbeat rate. I wouldnt worry though maybe the baby wasnt in teh right position to see the heart clearly but again talk to your doctor about your concerns. I always tell first time moms to not leave the doctors without having all your questions answered. There is no reason to be worrying yourself. Take Care and Congrats!

If she was looking at the ultrasound, then she would be able to see the heartbeat and wouldn't need the doppler. So yes, she could absolutely see the heartbeat even if you didn't think she was looking for it...she was. And if she didn't find it, she would have said something. However, it also kinda sounds like your OB needs to be more sensitive to you and actually point out the heartbeat!

Most of the time, the doctor won't look at the results of the ultrasound until later. The baby's heartbeat can be seen by 14 weeks on the ultrasound by the technician, and if there wasn't one, you would have been informed. Next time, voice your concerns to the doctor; don't be afraid to speak up!

If she was doing the US, she had to have been looking at it. They stop, and mark off places. Also, during US, the machine will time the heartbeat. I think it was a lack of sensitivity not to let you hear the heartbeat, and for her not to point things out to you. Next time use your voice, and speak up hon. Good luck on your pregnancy. ~~~~

They do so many things that you might not notice that she checked it. I'm sure she checked it. Plus they usually don't check the heartbeat until your second visit. As long as your baby was moving some what you shouldn't worry.

Wow. This is both suprising and disappointing. I would call the office and ask to speak with a nurse. Tell them your story, and that you would deeply appreciate a "quickie" appointment that would allow you to listen to your baby's heart beat.
If this action gets you nowhere, ask to speak to the office manager. Remember: sweet goes farther than sour....
